Review: Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Screenplay by JK Rowling (Spoiler Free)

This book review is spoiler free

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them screenplay by JK Rowling was amazing! Though I would have loved another novel, this screenplay was written beautifully in every aspect as the movie was produced. By the time I had read this I had already seen the movie multiple times but wanted to read this, much to my friend’s recommendation.

Upon getting this book, I was already in love. This book competed with The Thousandth Floor by Katherine McGee for best cover of 2016. With the cover slip was a beautifully patterned design with many of the Beasts. It gave off a modernized nineteenth century vibe and was a navy blue, everything else gold. Taking the cover slip off was just as nice in my opinion. Still the same colours, the difference was that the navy also had a small intricate pattern and replacing the design, in the middle, was simply a Niffler.

To be completely honest this was the first complete screenplay I had read, and didn’t know what to expect; what if it was a more boring version of the movie? If anything, it was better. Though the script is the same, you seem to pick up on more details you hadn’t in the movie. There are also many intriguing and beautiful, yet simple illustrations of the beasts and other things related to the script threaded throughout the pages.

Anyways, this was a quick and enjoyable read for myself. I would recommend it to those who are fans of Harry Potter or haven’t had enough of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

I didn't know what I was expecting when I began to read this book, but I didn't expect such a . . . toxic relationship. Tessa, who has next to none experience, Harry who has never been in a serious relationship. They both know what the other doesn't.

As they become closer, it is clear that this relationship isn't just hate, and surely not love, so it leaves you wondering what then? Lust? An act of rebellion? What causes these two people, polar opposites to come together and why do they both act recklessly? This book can really push your buttons, make you hate the main character for her stupidity but yet, that's what makes this book so real. People will always stupidly act, make mistakes and sometimes those people just don't learn from those former.

Ending with a twist, this book will hold you captive, needing the next chapter, going directly to the next book from the last chapter of the first. It was a nice book that lead me on a wild roller coaster of emotions.

REVIEW: The Fever Code by James Dashner

Note. This review does not contain any spoilers

The Fever Code by James Dashner (Maze Runner 0.6)

Rating: 5/6 stars

Recommendation: To those who have read The Maze Runner Series or at least The Kill Order, if you haven't this will make no sense to you so I recommend that you check out the rest of the series first.

Review:

This book, as of all of this series was amazing. It was really cool to dive further into the world before the Maze Trials. I wasn't expecting to be much of a plot twisty book as I thought I had known everything about this dystopia but it really surprised me. I kind of wished that James had written this book in more POV's as the only character besides Thomas is Newt for kind of a prologue.

Overall, this book was a lot better than I had expected and it was nice to see these characters again. It ended up breaking my heart a lot more than it should have but nonetheless was a great afternoon read.

Synopsis:

Once there was a world’s end.

The forests burned, the lakes and rivers dried up, and the oceans swelled.

Then came a plague, and fever spread across the globe. Families died, violence reigned, and man killed man.

Next came WICKED, who were looking for an answer. And then they found the perfect boy.

The boy’s name was Thomas, and Thomas built a maze.

Now there are secrets.

There are lies.

And there are loyalties history could never have foreseen.

This is the story of that boy, Thomas, and how he built a maze that only he could tear down.

All will be revealed.

The Birthstone Book Tag

Hey there! So I've decided that I wanted to do a book tag as my second post and why not this one?

So basically, I'm not going to tag anyone, but I encourage you to do it if it interests you. This tag was created by Jay G.

January (GARNET): Associate with warding off negative forces and dark energies – Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.

Image result for the wizard of oz bookTo be honest it's hard to choose the most evil character because all these 'villains' have some sort of reasoning for being the way they are. But I'd have to go with The Wicked Witch Of The West from The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. To me, she likes to be evil just for the sake of being wicked.

FEBRUARY (AMETHYST): PURPLE IS ASSOCIATED WITH ROYALTY – NAME A BOOK WITH REGAL QUALITIES… YOU CAN BASE THIS OFF OF CHARACTERS OF CHOOSE THE KING OF ALL BOOKS

Image result for selection kiera cass

How could I not go with my favourite book series about royalty? Of course The Selection by Kiera Cass is my pick for this category. It brings together so many genres and is written so masterfully. I'm devastated the series is over and hope the movie does this book justice.

MARCH (AQUAMARINE)- Washed out – Name a ‘wishy washy’ character, a character who is not strong or a follower

Image result for the maze runnerWishy washy, hmm? I think I'm going to choose Gally from The Maze Runner by James Dashner. he's not exactly mentally or physically strong yet always tries to rebel against Thomas. Not spoiling anything but his character is just there. But when he has the chance, he chooses not to go with the others even though his chances of survival heftily dropped.

APRIL (DIAMOND): A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH – NAME A BOOK THAT YOU LOVED BUT IS NOT WELL KNOWN

Image result for mr penumbra's 24 hour bookstoreOne thing you should know about me is that I love to discover new books. One of my favourites is always going to be Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan. It's about a boy who begins to work at a bookstore. Slowly he begins to discover a seccret society within booksellers full of mysteries. Add in help from a girl he met who works at Google and you have the perfect combination of old and new with a mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end.

May (EMERALD): Said to balance energy – Name two characters who balance each other well

Image result for lucian nyxThis Wattpad book was the first thing that popped into my head because well Lucian Nyx does not approve. Anyways Lucian and Alex are balance each other so well that Lucian acknowledges Alex as his balance.

JUNE (PEARL): ASSOCIATED WITH LOYALTY – NAME A CHARACTER WHO IS LOYAL TO THE END

There's so many loyal characters so I've narrowed it down to my top 3.

Image result for the maze runnerFirst off is Simon from The Mortal Instruments who is Clary's best friend and manages to stick by her side for the whole series even as she goes through her identity crisis (literally) and falls in love with someone else.

Next is Chuck from The Maze Runner. He was Thomas' first friend when he first found himself in the glade. He stood by Thomas until the very end.
Image result for the vampire academy books

Last is Lissa from The Vampire Academy. She and Rose don't just have the bond, they're true friends to each other. The reason why I chose Lissa and not Rose was because of Dimitri. Even as Rose was going through everything she was Lissa never turned her back on her.

A few honorable mentions: The golden trio (Harry Potter), Issac (TFIOS), Marlee (The Selection) and Rue (THG).

July (RUBY): Blood red – Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry

Image result for house of the scorpionOh, this one's easy. The ending to The House Of The Scorpion was the most aggravating ending ever.

Another one would be Allegiant. The series had actually been preety good but then this book comes out and ruins it all. And don't even get me started on how bad the movies are.

AUGUST (PERIDOT): PALE GREEN (IT PALES IN COMPARISON TO OTHER GEMS) – NAME A SUPPORTING CHARACTER WHO YOU LIKE BETTER THAN THE MAIN CHARACTER

Image result for twilight bookAlice from Twilight was definitely better than Bella, just saying like I mean she was so down to earth and her power is really cool.

September (SAPPHIRE): Blue like the ocean which is calming – Name a book that had a calming affect on you

Image result for the princess diaries bookThe Princess Diaries of course! This book series is such a fun book that always seems to calm me down right away.

OCTOBER (OPAL): IRIDESCENT – NAME AN IRIDESCENT BOOK, THIS CAN BE A BOOK WITH A BEAUTIFUL COVER (SHINY? LOTS OF COLOUR?) OR YOU CAN BASE IT OFF OF A CHARACTER (QUIRKY? COLOURFUL?)

Image result for the thousandth floorMy favourite cover by far is for The Thousandth Floor. It's so shiny and both the inside and out of this book is shiny and beautiful.

November (TOPAZ): Associated with resilience – Name a books with a charact
er who rises to the top in a time of adversity

Image result for the hunger games and matchedImage result for the hunger games and matchedI'm going to have to go with both Katniss from The Hunger Games and Cassie from Matched. Katniss definitely rises to the top as she continues to defy the Capitol and Cassie, who realizes what had been going on after she is matched.

DECEMBER (BLUE ZIRCON): ASSOCIATED WITH FRIENDSHIP – NAME A BOOK WITH A FRIENDSHIP YOU WANT TO BE APART OF

Image result for pretty little liars bookPretty Little Liars all the way. Now I wouldn't want to have been tortured by A but their connection after everything is amazing. They are the friendship goals. Another would be The Golden Trio from Harry Potter.
